HOW WE STARTED
From Tyden Rickard's beginning at Rehobeth Middle School with a point-and-shoot camera to his multinational professional career in filmmaking, the Wiregrass Film Exchange was born out of a desire to offer the same opportunities to young, aspiring filmmakers in Southeast Alabama.
Recognizing the barriers of access to equipment and professional training, Rickard, alongside key partners, established a program to equip and educate local high school students. Through a multi-county competition, winners are provided with the tools and knowledge needed to kickstart their media production businesses, ensuring the next generation can also chase their filmmaking dreams.

HOW IT'S POSSIBLE
The Wiregrass Film Exchange is made possible through partnerships with industry experts, educational institutions, and corporate sponsors, combining resources and expertise to offer aspiring filmmakers access to equipment and training. This cooperative effort streamlines the delivery of a comprehensive program that identifies and equips local young talent in filmmaking.
